CR Roberts is a grown-up who still gets captivated by children’s books, especially adventure books with magic, danger, and sometimes, time-travel. Finally, she decided to write some of those stories herself, which was so much fun that she decided to keep doing it. When she isn’t writing, she likes to play her banjo and go kayaking.
Northern California is where she now lives with her family, but she was originally from the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, the land of citrus trees, walnuts, and cotton. As a kid, CR’s favorite thing to do, besides running around exploring, was going to the library and checking out as many books as they would let her. She started to notice the Newbery Award stamp on some of her favorite ones, and began collecting them. When she got older, she figured her opinion was as good as anyone else’s, and helped start a blog reviewing Newbery Medal and Honor books. You can read some of these opinions at ProjectNewberyAward.blogspot.com. CR likes to write songs, poems, stories, and limericks, but her favorite is to make up novels for middle-school kids, especially books starring girls who end up finding out how strong they really are.
